Teachers are encouraged to apply for $1,000 grants by Sept. 5 to bring hands-on, student-directed STEM learning experiences to their classrooms. The Allen Distinguished Educators (ADE) program is now accepting applications for DIY Guide grants enabling teachers to implement engaging computer science, engineering and entrepreneurship projects. From burrito-fueled STEM explorations, to engineering habitats for hermit crabs, and more, applicants can choose from 11 projects developed by award-winning educators. DIY Guides include interactive videos, how-to materials and collaborative discussion forums. DIY Guide grants provide funds for teachers to implement a project, plus additional funds to the grantee for providing feedback on project adaptations and lessons-learned. This opportunity is open K-12 teachers in the U.S.
