It’s summer time! That means vacations, beaches, stay-cations and kids running around at home. While the summer is meant to relax and unwind, it can mean that kids lose some knowledge that they learned. According to Oxford Learning, approximately 2.6 months worth of math leaves the brain during the summer. An equivalent of one month of general learning becomes lost in the summer as well. That means your child could struggle through the beginning of the school year, because they have a challenge remembering there teachings.
According to Oxford Learning, a child need at least 2-3 hours a week or learning helps prevent learning loss. Now we know that parents don’t always have a lot of time on their hands to find lessons for their child to do. Fortunately, we have come up with a fun way to beat the learning curve, a 21 day STEAM challenge!
Here at talkSTEM, we wanted to create a way for families to find a stimulating way to keep on learning, even in the summer time. We came up with a 21 day challenge that will fit into everyone’s daily lives. These challenges were created to be able to do while you’re on vacation, at the beach or just at home. Their is a challenge for everyone in the family, including elementary, middle and high school kids.
Once you sign-up (which is FREE) you will receive a confirmation notice and your challenge will start the following day. You will receive three different types of activities that you and your family can do all together. We created these activities to challenge your mind and get you looking around the world with a STEM point of view.
When you are out doing you 21 day STEAM challenges, please be sure to let us know by posting on social media. Then use the hashtags, #21daySTEAM, #walkSTEM #iwalkSTEM, so that we know you’re having fun! We will also feature people taking the challenge on our social media pages with the hastags!
We hope that you will enjoy the 21 day STEAM challenge and we look forward to seeing you walkSTEM!
